Having a definition of how I see my role as a physician defines many of my boundaries and helps me make decisions. Mine is: With genuine authenticity and compassion, I meet my patients where they are to help them reach their health goals.
Falling back on these words helps me make choices when something doesn't feel quite right. When I get that niggly feeling in my gut, I know it's time to find clarity about which path I want to be taking.
Forbes suggests a mission statement should answer: What do I do? How do I do it? Who do I do it for? What value do I bring?
